Spanish
Hello! ¡Hola! Hello!
Making up over half of our student body, our Spanish program is the most sought after at ISCreson—instructed exclusively by native Spanish speakers, where children learn both in and through the target language, and accredited as an International Spanish Academy(ISA) by the Spanish Ministry of Education.
The International School of Creson is a role model for the ISA program. The accomplishments in terms of number of Visiting teachers hired, Language Assistants hosted, Professional Development sessions attended are impressive. We do really appreciate your commitment to dual language education and your cooperation with us to take this challenge to the highest level.

Program Highlights
The Spanish program is the only program where no prior Spanish-language experience is necessary for admission into any grade!
-
Note, space is limited in 1st and 2nd Grades for novice-Spanish language learners and dependent on the child’s English language academics as well as the availability of student language support.
-
For novice-Spanish language learners entering Grades 3 – 5, we offer a “Welcome Class.”
-
The “Welcome Class” is small by design to provide students access to a supportive and immersive language experience.
-
-
Students entering in Middle School have options of learning novice, intermediate, or advanced Spanish (or whichever language they choose/continue with as part of their academic schedule!)
Spanish Ministry of Education / International Spanish Academy
The Spanish program curriculum was established at ISC in 2001.
In 2008, the International School of Creson established its relationship with the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science and adopted the Spanish National Curriculum as the basis of the Spanish program, and received the highest level of recognition from the Spanish Ministry of Education in 2011. Currently, ISCreson is working under the highest level of recognition with the government of Spain to implement their national curriculum at ISCreson.
Through the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, ISCreson has been able to participate in a visiting teacher program, bringing teachers from Spain eager to teach in ISC’s immersion program.
In 2012, ISCreson was ranked as one of the top four elementary Spanish language immersion schools in North America by the Spanish Ministry of Education. In 2014, it was accepted as a member of the International Spanish Academies(ISA) project, a bilingual, Spanish/English educational model that the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science promotes in collaboration with American and Canadian educational authorities.
During the 5th Grade trip in our Spanish program, students spend 10-14 days immersing themselves in culture, language, and service in Spain!
Our last trip’s highlights are:
-
Visiting the Julióbriga Roman City and Domus Museum—a historical landmark, Roman ruins, and a museum.
-
At Las Dunas de Liencres Natural Park, our students planted trees and hiked around the dunes and beach area.
-
We then explored the top of a mountain—with incredible views!—via Teleferico Fuente Dé. (pictured above!)
-
Afterwards, we stopped in Potes for some shopping and ice cream!
-
Finally, we spent time at a San Jose school, where we joined the different classrooms, did activities, and then had a blast at recess all together!
DELE for Students and Adults
ISCreson is the only authorized testing location in the state for the Diploma de Espanol como Lengua Extranjera (DELE) Spanish Language Aptitude Test.
-
This exam assesses Spanish language skills for both students and adults.
By passing this exam, individuals receive an official diploma that certifies their degree of competence and mastery, granted by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport of Spain.
-
This life-long accreditation can be used to give students advanced placement in high school language classes, and potentially even provide college credits.
-
Adults may use it for college credits, or for acceptance into foreign colleges or places of employment.
